Story of the Art
Here, Africa takes the form of a face, or maybe it’s the other way around. The headdress, all in relief, is also a symbol, many elements coming from recycled computers, or objects representing gold, diamonds and, ultimately, the exploitation of Africa. Mixed media, collage with gilded metal foil background on canvas reinforced with cardboard backing and wood plate, mounted on stretcher. Resin for flawless gluing and extreme gloss in some areas, varnish finish elsewhere. Double framing, one gilded directly on the canvas, the other black in American frame style. Framed dimensions 84×66 cm. Varnish finish.
