Sara Joseph is an academically trained artist with a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts (BVA) from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (CKP), Bangalore, India.
Specializing in painting realistic portraits and figure painting including all of nature – humans, animals, birds, flowers and landscapes, Sara uses a mix of oil and acrylic on canvas. Every once in a while she does stray into the realms of the world of abstract art.
Gaining over ten years experience in graphic art and design while working for various corporates starting with TESCO, through Hello Kitty, Practo and finally with Lulu Group’s independent fashion label Reo Fashions in Abu Dhabi; Sara has been free-lancing since January 2021 while pursuing art full-time.
Winner of the ‘Kamala Venkat Raman’ award 2010 for the graduation show called ‘Drushyotsava’ for paintings depicting common folk in India, Sara has also participated in an Art Marathon held in 2016 by hundreds of artists in support of Venkattappa Art Gallery, Bangalore and her featured portrait of a frail old lady from Coorg attracted appreciative attention in the Bangalore Times and other Kannada newspapers.
“My inspiration for the paintings is always what I see around me, whether it’s the city where I live in or the people I meet to simple things around my house,” says the artist.
