Abidemi was born in Nigeria February 25, 1983. He was raised in Lagos by his grandmother, a pottery maker who had a great influence on Abidemi and his art. His piece “15 miles” is dedicated to his beloved grandmother.

Relocating to Houston, Texas in 2002, Abidemi enrolled in the Fine Arts Department at Texas Southern University. This background birthed the development of Abidemi’s unique, expressive style creating work that he describes as storytelling.

In 2010 Abidemi traveled to China with Abiola Akintola, his mentor, as the first group of African artists to ever create artworks for the opening of the Asian Olympic Games in Guangzhou, China. While in China, he also worked with the famous Chinese sculptor, Xu Hong Fei.

In 2011 Abidemi worked on a year-long residency project as an assistant artist to Abiola Akintola. In Shanghai, China. Currently he is working on creating a body of works for his upcoming exhibitions in the U.A.E. and U.S.A.
